“It feels so transparent in my workflow. Once it’s calibrated I can forget about it – it just works,” says Grégory Betton of his new ORIA immersive audio interface and monitor controller. A classically trained musician and writer who has recently set up his own 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos studio at his home in Noisy-le-Grand, Grégory can now concentrate on his creativity without worrying about the tech. “Audient’s ORIA has exceeded my expectations on all fronts.”

His setup includes ORIA and HEDD speakers and he recently downloaded the ORIA Remote App to allow him quick access to all of ORIA’s key monitoring features on his iPad screen. “It’s intuitive and makes managing the device incredibly easy,” he notes, confirming it has added to his smooth workflow. “This is a huge plus.”
ORIA is a key part of his setup. “The audio quality is outstanding, the interface is easy to use and the design is visually appealing,” explains Grégory. “I planned to integrate ORIA from the start because of its connectivity and simplicity. I was particularly interested in the AES outputs, which match perfectly with my HEDD monitors’ digital inputs.” Using Logic Pro and Cubase for audio production and Dorico for music notation, he works extensively with 3D audio software like the Dolby Atmos Renderer and Flux’s SPAT Revolution.

Talking about his initial experience with ORIA, he explains, “The setup process was straightforward. Integrating it with Sonarworks SoundID Reference made it simple to fine-tune my room’s acoustic treatment and adjust it as needed later.” He’d already used the SoundID Reference software to set up his HEDD speakers so working with the SoundID Reference microphone which comes included with the ORIA meant that “the process went smoothly […] and achieved great results.”
Writer Grégory has a deep love of sound whilst his background is rooted in literature. He describes his work as “storytelling with original music to create immersive experiences which blend narrative and audio”, essentially blending his two passions: music and writing. The move into Dolby Atmos was a natural development. “Immersive audio became the perfect way to bring my vision to life.”

Creating immersive soundscapes using binaural and multichannel audio techniques, he crafts artistic experiences seamlessly blending words and sounds to captivate and transport his audience. His recent projects include “Mimesis,” a binaural sci-fi thriller, and “Ballast,” a collection of vertical stories designed for smartphone reading.
Grégory is currently focused on a new project he’s calling Kolaj, from the French word ‘collages’. “It involves creating short videos that combine immersive music with text for a unique artistic experience,” he explains.
