Operating within the orbit of the legendary Jarring Effects label, Rumble Inn is a French independent recording studio with a beautiful philosophy: keeping professional-grade recording accessible to modest budgets. At the helm is Céline Frezza, a talented engineer who is quietly blazing a trail for women in audio. Recently, Céline decided it was time for a change and welcomed a brand new ASP4816-HE into her control room.
It is easy to get stuck in a routine when you work in the same 12-square-metre space every day. The arrival of the ASP4816-HE completely shook things up for Céline, giving her studio practice a well-deserved boost. “It forced me to rethink my setup and experiment,” she smiles. “It felt great to shake up the routine.”
Sonic Magic At Rumble Inn
Moving on from a beloved vintage desk can be daunting, but Céline has not looked back for a second. Instead of missing her old gear, she was immediately won over by the clarity of the Audient Class-A preamps. The desk shines particularly brightly when she pushes the low-end and dynamics on heavy electronic, dub and reggae tracks.
“As soon as I ran the signal through the Audient preamps, I loved the change in tone; it is sharper and less coloured,” she explains. She also has a special affection for the Heritage Edition’s Vintage Mix Bus processing. “I simply call them my ‘magic knobs’. I don’t always use them but when I do, that is when the magic happens!” She adds that the bus compressor works perfectly and she now uses it constantly to glue her mixes together.
Empowering the Next Generation
Beyond her own mixing work, Céline is deeply committed to empowering women and gender minorities through audio workshops. The intuitive layout of the ASP4816-HE has made it a brilliant teaching tool.
“Everyone is always very impressed by the mixing console,” she shares. “Giving participants easy access to it builds their confidence. Telling them to go ahead and try it out empowers them immediately.” She finds the straightforward layout makes it incredibly easy to explain the audio signal path, buses and aux sends. For Céline, making sound fun, quick and accessible is the best way to break down inhibitions and spark a lifelong interest in audio.

The Perfect Fit
When looking for a new centrepiece for Rumble Inn, Céline had a clear list of priorities. “Since I do not need a massive track count, I prioritised the quality of the preamps over the number of channels,” she notes. The ASP4816-HE was the only console that ticked every box for her, offering the perfect balance of price, in-line connectivity and uncompromised audio quality.
Currently, the studio is buzzing with fresh talent. Céline just finished working on an album for Lwanbe, an exciting young artist releasing new music soon. In fact, Céline noted that Lwanbe even helped carry the ASP4816-HE in, ready for its installation!
