As early adopters of the brand new ORIA Mini, SAE Institute Hamburg has integrated Audient’s latest room correction system into their Studio 4, bringing a “three-dimensional” listening experience to their first-semester students.
We caught up with Jörn Buschmeier, Head of Audio Engineering at SAE Institute Hamburg, to find out how the installation has been received. “The installation process was relatively straightforward,” says Jörn. “With the help of the instruction videos and documentation, the setup was completed smoothly in around 20 minutes.”
“A deeper, more three-dimensional listening experience”
Studio 4 is a compact desktop environment used daily by students beginning their audio journey. Despite the smaller footprint of the room, the addition of ORIA Mini has made a significant impact on the monitoring accuracy. According to Jörn, the workflow has improved by enabling a “much deeper, more three-dimensional listening experience with noticeably improved separation in the mix.”

He continues: “The ability to easily switch between the processed and unprocessed signal makes it an excellent reference tool and a very practical comparison solution. It feels almost like a second, alternative monitoring environment and is clearly perceived as added value by the students.”
Consistent Reliability
The arrival of ORIA Mini isn’t the only change coming to the space; Jörn also revealed that they are further streamlining the studio’s monitoring path by adding an Audient Nero desktop monitor controller.
iD4 – “excellent compact desktop interfaces” according to Jörn
The addition of ORIA Mini is just the latest step in a long-standing relationship between SAE Institute Hamburg and Audient. The facility is already home to an ASP4816 console, which Jörn notes is “very well received and performs reliably” in their teaching environment.

Furthermore, the school recently refreshed its desktop interface stock with eight new iD4 audio interfaces, replacing a previous fleet of iD4s that had finally reached the end of their long and busy lives. Jörn confirms that the iD4 remains a staple for them due to its “size, build quality and usability,” making it the “excellent compact desktop interface” for their students’ everyday needs.
ORIA Mini – at home in a flagship educational facility
It’s great to see ORIA Mini finding its home so quickly in a flagship educational facility like SAE Institute Hamburg. We look forward to hearing more from the students as they continue to explore the benefits of room correction.
