2019 Retrospective

16th décembre 2019

It’s that time of year when we take a moment to look back and take stock. It’s been quite the year for Audient!  Grab yourself a cuppa and join us to see some of the highlights of the last 12 months…

We launched not one but TWO new products:

Our guitar recording interface, Sono was a hit at NAMM, not least because Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon helped demo it on our booth. A collaboration with cab-sim specialists, Two notes, Sono breaks new ground and has certainly caught guitarists’ imagination.

Check out our comprehensive overview on YouTube. If you don’t believe us (or Graham), have a read of Sound On Sound: “at the price there’s nothing to dislike,” Mixdown Mag: “certainly no shortage of versatility,” or MusicTech: “a first-class way in to the music-production world,” – all of whom had lovely things to say about it.

Nero, the new desktop monitor controller sparked immediate interest from film composer, Kurt Oldman.  Gearslutz.com described it as “the monitor controller you always wanted.” Audient stalwarts have been coming out of the woodwork to try it – including Kitchen Sink co-owner, Tim Schmoyer. He loved it!

“Once I got it hooked up, I immediately knew this was going to be the one”

~ Tim Schmoyer, Kitchen Sink Studio, Santa Fe

Daniel Thrasher REALLY loves his iD44

A growing number of YouTubers have also chosen Audient to help them create their content.

From quick-witted musical comedian Daniel Thrasher and his iD44; Koji’s minimal iD4 setup which helps him produce EDM covers for over 300K subscribers; to Nebs’ spontaneous songwriting on Once Upon A Synth. He liked his iD22 so much he bought an iD14 for his second computer. They’re all taking advantage of the audio quality, control capabilities and low latency.

“ScrollControl is awesome. It’s very easy […] and looks really good in the videos.”

~ Koji Kobura, YouTuber

Audient interfaces are becoming more popular with songwriters around the world, too. Compact, robust and portable, they can just as easily stay on the desktop or be packed up and taken on location.

Producer, DJ & musician, Ali Stone took her iD44 to the ‘She Is The Music’ songcamp where she met Mary J. Blige, Lorraine Lionheart takes her iD4 everywhere (including Botswana) “…because you just never know” and Bang Bang Romeo’s iD4 joined the band on the European leg of P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma tour to record song demos – and a podcast!

“Audient pres are just incredible for presenting clearly and pristinely what I’m getting down”

~ Luke Sital Singh, songwriter

The Vaccines’ bassist, Árni Hjörvar Arnason went to the very furthest reaches of the west fjords of Iceland with his Audient gear, God Damn’s vocalist, Thom Edward took his iD4 to record himself screaming into some woods and, for that same record, descended into a disused station in London with iD4 and producer Sylvia Massy “to capture a different kind of performance.” After she’d tried it, she wasted no time in buying herself one.

“I’ve had such a positive experience recording off-the-grid with Audient iD4, it is now my secret weapon”

~ Producer, Sylvia Massy

Of course Audient gear continues to grace studios around the world from Somerset, UK to Auckland, NZ and Los Angeles. London studios: Pop Fiction, The HUB studio above a 600-year-old pub and Nicholas Lloyd Webber’s place have all upgraded to Audient this year, as well as renowned recording writing facility in the Netherlands, Wisselord Studios.

“This console is genuinely one of a kind”

~ Chris Montgomery, Dubway West studio, LA

Oh, and we shipped our first ASP8024-HE to Argentina, where rocker José Luis Fernández is enjoying getting back to his analogue roots.

Students at CSU Chico enjoying their ASP8024-HE

Audient is still strong in education, with Uppsala Estetiska Gymnasium in Sweden and Emmanuel College in Australia both appreciating the versatility of ASP4816 in their respective revamped studios.

Oregon State University, a few more SAE Institutes around the world and California State University Chico are also enjoying the well-documented benefits of teaching on ASP8024 Heritage Edition, whilst the University of Salford counts some 65 individual pieces of Audient equipment in its Adelphi Arts and Media facility.

“It’s easy to teach and easy for students to learn the fundamentals of signal flow”

~ Dann Sargent, Program Coordinator, CSU Chico, CA

These days you don’t need to leave the comfort of your home to get educated. Step into Control Room online membership forum for information sharing within the audio community, sign up to Riffhard academy to hone your rhythm guitar skills or try Produce Like A Pro (PLAP) online academy.

Then there’s Audient’s very own Tutorial Hub with heaps of information to absorb – absolutely free. Have a look around!

Don’t forget Audient owners who have registered their product can get three completely free PLAP courses, along with offerings from Two notes, Loopmasters, Waldorf Audio, Steinberg and LANDR on Audient’s Creative Hub ARC.

As the year draws to a close and holiday season is upon us, watch how the Audient elves have been working extra hard to make this – the biggest console we’ve ever produced – ready in time for collection.

Audient reckons Santa will need a few more reindeer to get this package – which comprises 60 channels, two Producer’s Desks, a Patchbay, DLC and the master module – off to its destination in time to get it under the tree!
